Whether you’re just picking up your first brush or already painting faces, this post is for you, dear Artist. These are the five powerful lessons I learned (some the hard way) that I wish I had known when I started my journey—and each one is wrapped in truth, grace, and scripture.
1. Excellence Is Worship
When you do makeup, you’re not just painting a face – you’re serving a soul. The way you prep your tools, honor your client’s time, and care for their comfort is a reflection of how you honor God.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31
Excellence isn’t perfection—it’s care, consistency, and doing your best with what you’ve been given.
2. Connections Matter More Than Followers
Instagram is a tool, not your source. My biggest opportunities didn’t come from a viral post—they came from someone remembering the peace I brought to their wedding morning.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
How you make people feel will travel further than any hashtag.
3. Master the Fundamentals Before the Fads
Trends are fun, but timeless skills will build your name. When you master blending, skin prep, color matching, and long-wear techniques (especially in Singapore’s humidity 😅), you’ll stand out.
“Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings.” – Proverbs 22:29
Excellence speaks louder than trends.
4. Your Brand Is Not Just Your Work—It’s YOU
Your reputation is a spiritual legacy. Are you kind? Are you prepared? Do you bring peace into the room? All of this speaks louder than your portfolio.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” – Colossians 3:23
God has anointed you to be excellent.
5. What You Sow in Private, God Will Reward in Public
I used to feel unseen. I wondered if I would ever be known. But everything you do behind the scenes—the way you practice, the prayers you whisper, the posts you make with no likes—God sees it.
“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6
Stay hidden in Him. The spotlight will come—but let your roots grow first.
💬 Final Word
If you’re reading this, it means God has already marked you for greatness in this beauty space. Don’t rush it. Don’t compare. Serve with joy, grow with humility, and let God breathe on your business.
